Dollar Tree DIY Summer Décor Glow Up

Just over here adding to my collection of twine and yarn décor crafts on #nationalcreativityday! We are ready for pool parties, sunshine, friends and family; summer! I wasn’t sure how to “decorate” for the season but found these cute little tinsel guys at Dollar Tree and figured I could glow them up to match my style and give the house a summery vibe. They turned out kinda cool! Plus, it was super easy and cheap. That is the way. What You’ll Need From Dollar Tree:

tinsel decorations (cactus, pineapple, flamingo)
twine (jute and sisal tying)
yarn (preferred colors)
scissors
HOT GLUE!

How To:

Start by removing the tinsel from your decorations.
Hot glue the inside of the frames together to keep a 3D shape.
Wrap yarn and/or jute around the frames until covered to your liking and hot glue the end.

Ca-ute Cactus

green yarn around the trunk of the cactus and arms
wrap fully in a horizontal direction first then go back over criss crossing to give it some dimension
use jute twine to cover the base
zig zag between pegs and wrap underneath for more fullness

Pretty Pineapple

wrap sisal tying twine around entire body of pineapple
use less twine to keep better shape
crisscross for more dimension

Fun Flamingo

pink yarn around the body of the flamingo
wrap fully in a verticalal direction first then go back over criss crossing to give it some dimension
use jute twine to cover the nose and legs
use less twine to keep the shapes
