Why are those decorative twine balls SO EXPENSIVE? It’s crazy. I don’t know about you, but I HATE paying a bunch of money for something I can make myself at a small fraction of the price! - jute twine
- bag of balloons
- Mod Podge
- sponge brush
- scissors

Basically…
- Start by blowing up the balloons to your desired shape and size. I did a variety of sizes.
- Pour some Mod Podge on a plate and wet the end of the twine.
- Place and hold it on the balloon.
- Wrap the twine organically around balloon in different directions until you are satisfied with the design. Then, cut the twine and hold it in place.
- Use the sponge brush to saturate the twine balls with Mod Podge.
- Once dry and hard, pop the balloon and remove it from the center. All done!
Tips!
- The Mod Podge will dry clear, but don’t glob it on or you will have to deal with removing more excess glue after it dries.
- Mod Podge has a very strong smell! If possible, let dry outside.
- Most of the work is fast and easy, but it takes hours to dry. Prepare for that.
- Use a toothpick to help scrape out glue in between the twine.
- If you can find them, water balloons would be better for smaller, rounder twine balls.
Hope you have fun with this DIY twine ball craft and it has inspired you to create more of your own home décor. 🙂
