What You’ll Need:
- beige jute/ twine
- Heart-shaped felt stickers from Dollar Tree
- Valentines-themed beads
- (2 styles) 1.5″ wired burlap ribbons
- 2 other assorted ribbons
- Handicraft Decoration Craft Bells from Amazon
- pink, white and gray paint, paint brush(es) (optional for bells)
- HOLE PUNCH (not pictured)
- scissors
- hot glue gun
Heartfelt
- Start by peeling one heart and sticking it to another heart of the same size.
- You can peel both sides if you want but peeling only one will save you time.
- I used the largest and middle size hearts, plus alternated between the colors. Feel free to use whichever you like in whichever order. 🙂
- After peeling and sticking together a bunch of hearts that I estimated to be enough, I used a whole punch to create the whole for the jute to feed through.
- TIP: Don’t just hole punch the middle of the heart. It will naturally hang upside down. Instead do it in one of the top sides of the heart so they will hang at an angle. I learned this the hard way. LOL.
Tying the Knot
- Start by tying off your first Valentines-themed bead.
- Next add felt heart, then another bead.
- Beads should be about 2-3 inches apart depending on how far you want your supplies to go.
Bell of the Ball
- To me, the bells add that sweetness and femininity to this garland. I put mine on after every FOURTH felt heart, but it is up to you how many you want to incorporate. Experiment a little since they can easily be moved around.
- Use a piece or smaller ribbon or extra jute to pull through the top of the bell.
- Tie onto the just wherever you like, again I did mine every fourth felt heart.
- Tie into a pretty, little bow.
- The bells are already a gold color, which I like in small doses, so I left some and alternated between the ones I painted white and grey. (Those give it a more shabby chic look)
Olivia Bows
- So I am obsessed with the Olivia Bows from the crafter Olivia’s Romantic Home (look her up, she does not disappoint). These are so easy and really only require a few steps.
- For two bows on the end of your garland you will need a bottom layer ribbon and top layer ribbon. I used these chevron and dot wired ribbons for the Valentines theme.
- Loop the bottom layer (chevron) ribbon 6 times creating three loops on either side of the ribbon. I went about 5-6 inches long.
- Repeat the same process with the top layer (dot) ribbon about an inch shorter.
- Lay them on top of each other and make a small cut on either side of the center of the ribbons.
- Tie them together using another small ribbon or jute. The cuts help secure the ribbon better for fluffing.
- Fluff out each loop making your bow. This works best with wired ribbon so the bow holds its shape.
- Lastly, glue the ends of your jute to the bows to complete your garland!
