What You’ll Need:
- 2 foil ‘Love’ hearts from Dollar Tree
- 3 different ribbons; 1 thick and wired
- beige jute
- empty wine bottle
- white and gray paint, paint brush(es)
- hot glue gun and scissors
*** Some materials pictured were not used as I tend to change my mind as I craft.
Remove
- Cut and remove the foil garland around both hearts, exposing the plastic frames.
- Unravel the foil instead of cutting through to keep it in good condition for another craft! 🙂
- Next bow the heart shaped frames away from each other and hot glue the edges together.
- This will a 3 dimensional bubbled heart shape.
Paint
- Paint a light or pastel over one side of the heart (or all of it if both sides will be seen).
- Make sure to paint the inside of the heart as well. It will show through the finished craft.
- Let that dry off to the side and paint your empty wine bottle.
- It’s up tot you if you want that distressed look or not.
- Use two coats (letting dry in between) for a solid look.
Wrap
- Once your heart frame is dry, tie off the end of your jute to one side.
- Begin wrapping the jute vertically from the top of the heart to the bottom using the pegs.
- If you’re only showing off the front them keep all of the jute wrapped on the front side.
- If you’re showing off both sides, wrap the jute all the way around.
- Continue wrapping up and down across to the other end of the heart.
- Next loop around a peg and start wrapping horizontally across the heart to have the crisscross look.
- Tie off at the end.
- For the wine bottle, you will start by hot gluing the end of your jute to the bottom of the bottle.
- MAKE SURE THE BOTTLE IS DRY OTHERWISE YOU WILL HAVE TO TOUCH UP
- Start wrapping around the bottom edge and layering the jute upward to your desired stopping point.
- Hot glue jute to the bottle where you want to stop.
DIY Shabby Chic Wine
- Make an Olivia Bow by looping the wired ribbon 6 times.
- Make a little cut on each side across the center.
- Tie off the center with jute.
- Fluff and tie onto the top of your bottle.
DIY Shabby Chic Heart
- Cut your two other ribbons the same length (about 9 inches for mine).
- Cross over itself making a loop and hot glue the center
- Pull the top of the loop to the center and hot glue.
- Tie off the center with jute and hot glue to the front of your heart.
