The easiest taco recipe you’ll find this side of the border! This my husband’s favorite way to make tacos. We call them American Tacos because they are basically a deconstructed American cheeseburger. Check it out below!
What You’ll Need:
- one pound of ground beef
- small (5 in diameter) yellow corn tortillas
- tomato
- lettuce
- onion
- shredded cheddar cheese
- ketchup

How To Taco:
- Brown + season the beef and break up to desired chunkiness.
- We use a pan on the stove at medium to medium high heat.
- We season with salt, pepper, garlic and onion powder.
- Chop the veggies.
- Grate the cheese (if needed).
- Fry tortillas in oil throughout (optional).
- Make the taco!
American Tacos
So this is how we “style” our American tacos. We add the ground beef to our shell. Followed by tomato, onion, lettuce, then cheese. After that we top the them with some standard Kroger’s brand ketchup! But let’s be real… it’s not a classic American cheeseburger without piling it on, so our tacos look more like this.
So if you’re a burger family looking to branch out, start small and try the American Taco next Taco Tuesday! This is also a great meal to add to your menu if you regularly stock up on ground beef. I hope you and your family enjoy this simple taco recipe as much as our family does!
