We are in the thick of the fall season and have covered a lot of the main concepts. For this month, I am incorporating Farm Animal Friends to make these fall break preschool resources more fun. Early exposure to academics can help children perform better and feel more confident when they enter kindergarten, which is why preschool is so important. I have created some simple farm themed resources to supplement your (and my own) toddler’s preschool learning. Whether it is incorporated into your curriculum, used as an introduction, or just for fun, these preschool resources will help you and your child develop a love of learning. This week’s focus is: Letter H, Number 8, Rectangle, Brown

Main Concepts Printable Packet
Print, cut, and staple/glue. (If your child is able, have them help.) Then, have them color or dot paint while discussing each preschool concept. Currently, we are working toward tracing the letters/shape and using dots to count on the number. You can do this all in one lesson or have your toddler do one page each day for each concept. *Print on cardstock to create flashcards for later!*
Preschool Learning Activities
Letter Search: Find the H
Use a puzzle, alphabet chart, or anything with words including the letter H and model pointing it out. Then help your child also point out the letter H. If they are picking it up quickly, have them do some on their own or find letter Hs around the house. You can also teach and look for items that start with the letter H sound if your little is ready!

Count to: 8
Use toys or blocks. Set out eight of each toy or block and model counting to eight. Then help your child also count out eight as they move or touch the toy. This is a great opportunity to model counting fingers on your hand. We also used round objects to build the shape of the number eight! If they are picking it up quickly, have them do some on their own of find items of only eight around the house.

Horse Pen Shape Review: Rectangle
For this activity, we started with identifying the rectangle then did a shape review by building horse pens with different objects we found out back (beautiful weather) on our printable. There is a one sheet printable with all 4 shapes, just smaller, OR you can print each shape individually as a bigger size! I printed all for Ruby so she could used different sized objects.
Along with reviewing and building shapes for fine motor skills development, we also talked about horses, identified the brown color of their coat, and learned the difference between the horses being “in” a pen and the ones “out” of a pen. The Three Little Pigs helped reinforce that concept, plus we identified shapes, colors, and number of pigs as we read.

Color Identification: Brown
Similar to the letter activity, use a seek and find type book (or any picture book) to point out brown objects. Model until your child seems to be picking it up and have them continue on their own. They can then move on to find brown objects around the house to make it more challenging. You can also combine this with the activities from the other weekly concepts above!
