DIY BIG PICNIC PUZZLE

It’s BIG, it’s cardboard, and it’s perfect for summer! Check out this super easy DIY oversized puzzle craft to entertain your toddler; it’s virtually free. The theme I chose was picnic for National Picnic Day, but this craft could be customized to any theme you put your mind to. My daughter enjoyed grabbing and inspecting each puzzle piece. It’s so fun to watch. Plus, you can teach about shapes, food, insects, etc during playtime! So, let’s get into it!

What You’ll Need:

large cardboard box
FREE downloadable picnic printables
Mod Podge
sponge brush
razor cutter

Bigger is Better

Start by printing out the FREE downloadable picnic printables (above).
Find a box big enough to contain all of the printables.
- I just laid them out on top of the flattened box.
- OPTIONAL: Paint the background for the puzzle (if you’re extra like me)!
Cut out each printable and paste them where you prefer with the Mod Podge.
- Make sure to leave enough room around edges and between the printables that it won’t tear.
Use the razor to cut through the cardboard around the glued down printables.
Remove the new puzzle pieces and add another layer of Mod Podge over the top and around the edges to make them more durable.
Cut out a small tab along the side of the hole for a place to easily pull out the puzzle pieces (see photo).
Let the pieces dry outside. The Mod Podge smell can be very strong.
Now, you’re ready for a picnic! 🙂
