Have fun this spring with your toddler and this Dollar Tree DIY Tea Time Sensory Activity! It’s so easy, inexpensive and pretty! As my daughter gets closer and closer to being an official toddler, I get excited about all of the easy themed activities I can put together and play with her. Sensory bins and activities are the perfect way to customize almost any theme using inexpensive items from Dollar Tree or things you already have at home; plus allows kids to learn and explore. Check out the quick tutorial and materials list below, as well a playtime guide to help you get started with this fun little DIY sensory activity for kids.

What You’ll Need from Dollar Tree:
- small storage container bin (if you don’t have one already)
- 2 packages of white beans
- 1 package of pink petals
- plastic party picnic supplies
- cups with handles
- tongs
- shovel
- silver napkin rings
- party favor jewelry
- kitchen play sweets food bundle
Time for Tea
- Start by pouring 1/3 of the pink petals onto the bottom of the container bin.
- Add the 2 bags of white beans.
- Place 2 “tea cups” at either end and one set of tongs and shovel at the other ends.
- Add sparkly stickers to the cups to make them more fun.
- Place a few of the napkin rings, jewelry, and sweets throughout the rest of the bin.
- Ready to play! See some playtime ideas below.
Playtime Guide
- gather beans in cups and “pour” tea
- pretend eat sweets and drink tea
- “pick” flowers
- dig for “treasure” (jewelry)
- cut circles with the napkin rings
- use tongs and shovel to categorize
- count beans by 2, 5, 10, etc.
- separate by color, shape, or texture
